A Boring Pair of Socks

Ok, so the point is to use up the stash of yarn left-overs, to stretch them out with interspersing them with a blending colour yarn, pick up a colour in the blend for cuffs, heels and toes. But in this case it has resulted in a very boring pair of socks! It was so boring it was all I could do to finish the second sock.

Oh well, someone will love them. They’re now in the give-away pile (which continues to grow – gotta start giving those socks away).

Decided I should begin using up leftovers from other socks before buying more yarn. There was enough yarn in this ball for at least two legs (turned out there was actually a bit more) and I extended what I had with a light pink that blended with the lighter sections of the yarn. I alternated rows for  40 rows in the ankle. This one has been added to the stash – I now have 6 pairs of socks to give away!

The last full ball of Sweet ‘n Spicy Yarn (Opal) – Finished these socks last week. That was when I decided to go through the leftovers and see what was there that would be enough for another pair of socks. Found five balls of leftover yarn that with a bit of help (by interspersing a solid part way through leg/instep) I would be able to produce a pair. So that’s what I’m doing now.

Socks…

Finished this pair the other evening – one of the Opal Sweet ‘n Spicy yarns. I am now working on the last ball of that yarn, then I’ll have to go yarn shopping or start improvising using all the leftovers I have packed away (I don’t enjoy working with the leftovers because there is no surprise there).

Latest Socks

Another pair of socks finished. It’s not obvious in the photo, but there’s a mylar (metallic silver) thread through the socks which makes them sparkle. I was going to keep these but I’ve put them in the give-away pile. And started another pair in shades of blue and purple.

Socks Again

Forgot to post a photo of this pair of socks – I knit them for a friend initially (large size), but because she’s also a knitter I thought she might be offended if I gave them to her so I gave them to another friend who isn’t a knitter!

I bought the variegated yarn initially to make another shawl, (I had skeins of navy, green and pale blue in my stash which would have been enough for the shawl), but decided I wasn’t up for that investment of time, so I used the variegated yarn for this pair of socks.

Finished this pair while I was in Toronto last week. The two socks aren’t an exact match – it was difficult to actually locate the start of the “pattern” so I just started on the second sock where I left off. The stripes make a “match” irrelevant. These go into the give-away pile. And I was on to the next pair.

Andrea’s Socks

Finished this pair the other day and sent them off yesterday to my friend Andrea in Newfoundland. I’m hoping the foot is long enough for her – if not, she knows to send them back and I’ll adjust the length.

Next pair is already on the go – can’t leave the needles unoccupied!
