Just finished assembling the quilt top. Can’t decide whether to leave it as it is or to add a bit more border to it… I cut a 2 1/2″ strip for the border, probably should have used at least 3″ – If I added another couple of inches what would I use – a solid? a bit from the backing? I’ll have to think about that some more.
Now to move on to the five blocks for the backing strip – my backing fabric is 44″, quilt top width = 52″ – I need a strip at least 12″ wide to give me enough fabric for the backing to allow the embroidery/quilting to work.
OK, now to get to it…
Looks terrific! Hope you’re fully recovered.
It looks great and looks like a gallery array of paintings. I’m not sure about border, though I think it might need something — either more or less. If you go for more, consider one of the dark reds, and I don’t think you need a solid.
btw, my “Connected” quilt is finished and should arrive today at its destination. Though I doubt the new owner reads my blog, I’ll wait until it’s been opened before writing about it and showing photos. You know I wasn’t sure about the colors I used, especially the prissy aqua used as part of the lattice. But Jim picked the border and binding colors. Once it was done, the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. Thanks again for the inspiration.
I hadn’t thought about trying a red… Interesting idea. Thanks
The interesting thing about receiving a quilt is the recipient has no idea of the decisions you made along the way! To the recipient this was the only options. So it’s certain to be beautiful, right?
🙂 I love that way of looking at it! Thanks for the thought.
