  1. Ahoy there, Judith- This dinosaur is just exploring all that substack or whatever it’s called is offering, and I found your email in my promotions folder. What a story from your sister, Donna, Judith. Thanks so much for sharing that with the world. We’ve both lost all parents (David’s mom and dad both died within a month in the fall) and the happy snappy M’s day crap is always a tough one. My mom died five years ago and she was the cat’s meow in my life too, and detested the pathetic poetry of M’s Day cards. When she died, there were various bits of things from her life, including a file with homemade cards from 5 Gillin kids. Such a treasure to look through now. Hope you’re keeping well and busy. I’m teaching a drama course for teachers during intersession and then we’re off to Helsinki and Lapland—part conference and mostly fun fun fun. We’re also having moments of awe with a new Ioniq (a Hyundai EV) we’ve purchased…like gliding along on a kite! Big hugs back to you and please thank Donna for her words and her further step in connecting with the coffee maker company. How incredible to read this story today. XOJan I honestly believe that some of the finest teachers on the planet are 5 or 6 or 7 years old. If we listen to their stories, we’ll discover that they have much to teach us about getting along in this oh-so-busy world. ~JBuley thinking aloud one day recently…

  2. There is indeed no word for parents who’ve lost their children. And, the thing is, others move on, but those hearts always ache. I will be sharing your sister’s beautifully written story with 2 friends who’ve lived that heart ache. Thanks for sharing.
